In 1991, Graceland was placed on the National Register of Historic Places. In 2006, it was designated a National Historic Landmark. Graceland visitors come from all walks of life, all ages, all musical tastes, all income levels, all educational backgrounds, and all parts of the world. Our employees are ambassadors to Memphis and work hard to ensure all of our guests are treated with the same southern hospitality that Elvis Presley was known for. This is a full-time supervisor position located in the Merchandise Department working variable and flexible days with working hours to include days, evenings, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed. Benefits will be offered after successful completion of a sixty (60) day introductory period. This is a promotional opportunity and is an external/internal recruitment.

Requirements

  • Ability to cope with a heavy workload
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills both in person and on the telephone are essential
  • Ability to prioritize and work with minimum supervision
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to perceive and deal with sensitive issues and maintain confidentiality
  • Ability to deal successfully with a wide range of people
  • Ability to work under pressure of deadlines and competing needs
  • Ability to handle money as required
  • Demonstrated supervisory experience
  • Merchandise background with knowledge of merchandising mathematics, mark ups, pricing are required
  • Knowledge of computerized cash registers

Responsibilities

  • Assist in training of merchandise leads, merchandise associates
  • Assist in ordering of merchandise
  • Record tardiness, absences, and scheduled time off
  • Conduct performance appraisals
  • Counsel employees including disciplinary action as appropriate
  • Collect damaged merchandise and record amounts
  • Escort associates to shops
  • Perform shift changes
  • Establish work schedules
  • Resolve employee and guest complaints
  • Prepare employee time for personnel
  • Conduct the opening and closing of the merchandise shops
  • Other duties as assigned
