About the position

The Merchandise Planner plays a critical role in managing brand planning for both pre-season and in-season timeframes, ensuring that in-stock targets are met. This position involves strategic inventory management, forecasting client behaviors, and optimizing inventory levels to support the company's brand partnerships. The role requires collaboration with various teams, including Merchandising and Demand Planning, to drive business growth and enhance operational efficiency in a fast-paced retail environment.

Responsibilities

  • Manage Brand Planning for pre-season and in-season timeframes to meet in-stock targets.
  • Create pre-season Brand Budget Plans in partnership with Inventory Directors, Merchants, and Vendors.
  • Develop new brand strategies, projected sales, inventory needs by SKU, and order flow setups for launch timeframes.
  • Own newness/launch hindsight, sales projections, and buys to support merchandising and promotional strategies.
  • Reconcile OTB Sales and Receipt projections with Replenishment/Demand Planning system forecasts.
  • Present and lead monthly cross-functional OTB meetings.
  • Partner with Demand Planning on forecast alignment and strategy.
  • Analyze and validate sales and inventory needs for Key Initiatives, Animations, and promotions.
  • Develop liquidation strategies for exit brands/collections or overstock.
  • Drive allocation strategy with the Allocation team to support inventory merchandise strategy for newness and events/promos.
  • Communicate consistently with vendors regarding sales performance and outstanding issues.
  • Provide OTB and SKU forecasts to vendors to achieve targeted vendor fill rates.
  • Report updated business trends and stock continuity weekly.
  • Conduct Newness hindsight and key initiatives analysis on a seasonal basis.
  • Guide Merchandise Planning Assistant in prioritizing newness and important orders.

Requirements

  • 2-5 years of Planning experience
  • Excellent technical skills in MS Office, specifically Excel and Word
  • Ability to interpret and synthesize data into intelligent business decisions
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and task management skills
  • Clear and concise written, verbal, and presentation skills
  • Good negotiation skills
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Keen attention to detail
  • Flexible team player
