About the position

The Mental Health Therapist at CHI St. Joseph Children's Health plays a crucial role in addressing the mental health needs of children and families in the Lancaster community. This position emphasizes a comprehensive, family-focused approach to behavioral health, recognizing the importance of collaboration with various professionals and the child's support system. The therapist will work to create individualized treatment plans, provide therapeutic interventions, and support clients in achieving their wellness goals, all while being part of a dedicated team committed to improving the lives of children and families.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct client intakes and assessments, focusing on diagnostic and functional evaluations.
  • Work with clients and their families to create client-centered, strengths-based treatment plans and establish treatment goals.
  • Provide focused therapeutic interventions to enhance clients' optimal functioning and coping in the community and at home.
  • Assess client needs, service availability, and appropriateness of services.
  • Coordinate care with clients' primary care providers and psychiatrists, as applicable.
  • Provide clients with self-management skills and educational information for active participation in their treatment and recovery.
  • Consult with department and organization leadership and team members about behavioral services and program evaluation.
  • Document clients' progress and diagnostic information in their electronic medical record.
  • Adopt a solution-focused and creative approach to daily responsibilities.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in a Mental Health Field (Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, Creative Arts in Therapy, etc.).
  • Licensed as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) in Pennsylvania.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience working with children and families, preferred.
  • Knowledge of evidence-based best practices, trauma-informed therapy, and client-centered treatment.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and work collaboratively with diverse populations.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bi-Lingual (Spanish) strongly preferred.
