The Mental Health Tech 1 position at Youth Opportunity Investments involves providing care and supervision to youth in a supportive environment. Responsibilities

• Supervise a group of 7-10 youth during activities, ensuring their safety and security.
• Provide guidance and teach youth internal controls for responsible living.
• Adopt roles of educator, activity therapist, and group leader throughout the day.
• Maintain knowledge of the whereabouts of all group members and comply with safety procedures.
• Utilize group counseling techniques and crisis intervention as needed.
• Represent youth's needs and accomplishments to the treatment team.
• Conduct problem-solving meetings and daily reviews with the youth.
• Assist classroom teachers in delivering subject matter and study practices.
• Promote activity planning and completion among the youth.
• Document daily occurrences and conduct frequent population counts.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Two years of college coursework in social or human service field preferred.
• Two years' work experience working with youth preferred.
• Verbal skills to relate effectively with youth on an adult level.
• Group counseling and leadership skills are required.
• Good analytical skills to distinguish between cause and effect.

Nice-to-haves

• Certification in First Aid and CPR preferred.
• Experience in crisis intervention methods preferred.
