About the position

The Mental Health Clinician role involves providing mental health evaluations, crisis intervention, and follow-up care for incarcerated adult men. The clinician will work closely with social workers and the Department of Correction to ensure appropriate mental health care and treatment coordination. This position requires collaboration in treatment planning and may involve supervising interns or volunteers.

Responsibilities

  • Provide mental health evaluations, crisis intervention, assessments, and follow-up care for incarcerated adult men.
  • Coordinate with Reentry Social Workers for discharge planning and ensure appropriate mental health care disposition.
  • Collaborate with the Department of Correction for patient access, housing, and treatment coordination.
  • Lead group therapy and complete required documentation, participating in clinical supervision and case conferences.
  • Participate in mental health and medical rounds, contributing to treatment planning for patients.
  • May supervise interns/volunteers, conduct psychological testing, and perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in social work, Psychology, or related field.
  • New York State License in Social Work, License in Mental Health Counseling, or licensure in Psychology.
  • 1 year of experience in mental health counseling.
