About the position

The Men's Basketball League Referee is responsible for enforcing game rules, making calls, and resolving conflicts during basketball games. This role aims to provide a safe environment for all participants while ensuring excellent member service. The referee will also assist in supervising, organizing, and executing Sport & Recreation policies and procedures under the guidance of the Sport & Recreation Director.

Responsibilities

• Enforce the rules of the game and make calls during games.
• Resolve conflicts that arise during games.
• Provide a safe environment for all participants and members.
• Assist with the supervision and organization of Sport & Recreation activities.
• Communicate effectively with members and staff regarding policies and procedures.
• Maintain cleanliness and safety of the facility and equipment.
• Support volunteers in their daily functions.
• Engage in community involvement and support YMCA fundraising activities.

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Knowledgeable of the game of basketball.
• CPR/AED & First Aid Certifications required.
• Excellent communication skills and professionalism.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in conflict management.
• Previous experience as a referee or in a similar role.
