About the position

The Memory Care Life Enrichment Assistant plays a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for residents with Alzheimer's and/or Dementia by implementing engaging programs that cater to their social and personal needs. This position works closely with the Life Enrichment Director to ensure that each resident's interests and preferences are honored, fostering a supportive and family-like environment within the community.

Responsibilities

• Actively implements life enrichment programs as planned and assigned to meet the functional levels, needs and interests of each Resident.
• Honors the individual needs and preferences of residents and communicates changes, requests, and interests to the Director of Life Enrichment.
• Assists Residents to and from life enrichment programs and outings as scheduled.
• Maintains good rapport with family members and encourages family support in programs.
• Assists residents during meals and snacks, promoting an atmosphere of socialization.
• Completes appropriate records indicating Resident's attendance and participation in activities in a timely manner.
• Provides input to the assessment and evaluation of Residents' participation when requested.
• Communicates Resident's concerns and responses to interventions to immediate supervisor.
• Supports Residents' individual needs, preferences, customary routines, concerns, and choices.
• Assists and works with individual volunteers and volunteer programs at the request of the Life Enrichment Director.
• Assists residents with ADL needs that arise during planned activities such as toileting or eating/drinking.
• Participates in long-term care survey process, regulatory, and accreditation.

Requirements

• Experience working with individuals with Alzheimer's and/or Dementia required.
• High school diploma or general education degree (GED), or one to three months related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
• Preferred Certified as a Nursing Assistant - 1-year experience preferred.
• Must possess a current chauffeur's license if operating transportation vehicles and possess a current Commercial Driver's License (CDL) if applicable.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Enjoys socializing, has an outgoing and friendly personality.
• Must be able to express self adequately in written and oral communication and communicate effectively in an interdisciplinary care setting.
