This position supports the Cell Processing Laboratory. The schedule is Monday-Friday and can include occasional on-call, early, or late shifts. Hours are generally aligned with patient schedules, typically working from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The role involves performing, evaluating, and monitoring laboratory tests, managing workflow, evaluating results for clinical significance, and performing instrument calibration and maintenance. Quality control and assurance are key aspects, as is ensuring specimen integrity and proper collection. The position also involves providing training and technical assistance to other staff, assisting in the development of training protocols, and improving laboratory procedures. Compliance with accrediting agency standards, including CAP Regulatory requirements, is essential. The role includes performing specialty testing in various laboratory areas and supporting disease-specific accreditations by meeting turnaround time goals. Direct support for critical care departments, including transfusion services, attending codes, and performing specialized testing during high acuity patient events, is also a responsibility. The incumbent must demonstrate knowledge and skills appropriate for the age of the patients served.
