About the position
As a Medical Specialist 2 at Manhattan Psychiatric Center, you will diagnose, treat, prescribe, and provide specialized medical care and treatment services to individuals with mental illness. Your responsibilities will include conducting physical examinations, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, diagnosing and treating medical conditions, prescribing medications, therapies, vaccinations, and other specialized medical care, and modifying treatment as needed. You will collaborate with other healthcare professionals and disciplines to achieve treatment goals and objectives, maintain medical documentation consistent with agency, State, and federal requirements, and participate in discharge planning while collaborating with other providers and disciplines.
Responsibilities
- Conducting physical examinations and ordering diagnostic tests.
- Diagnosing and treating medical conditions.
- Prescribing medications, therapies, and vaccinations.
- Collaborating with healthcare professionals to achieve treatment goals.
- Maintaining medical documentation as per requirements.
- Participating in discharge planning.
Requirements
- Licensed to practice medicine in New York State.
- Certification by Member Board of the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS) in your specialty.
- One year of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service in a title eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law (for candidates within State Service).
