About the position

The Medical Scribe/Medical Assistant position involves supporting physicians in a busy ENT office by documenting patient encounters in real-time, managing patient information, and assisting with various medical procedures. The role requires proficiency in medical terminology and electronic medical records (EMR), with a preference for bilingual candidates in Spanish.

Responsibilities

• Accompany the physician into the exam room and document patient encounters.
• Document the history of the patient's present illness and physical examination.
• Enter vital signs and track lab values.
• Look up pertinent past medical records and imaging study results.
• Type progress notes and document discharge plans and prescriptions within 24 hours.
• Assist in office surgeries and explain aftercare instructions to patients.
• Perform various medical and diagnostic procedures as required by the provider.
• Prepare specimens for laboratory pickup and maintain pathology logs.
• Answer multi-line phones and screen calls for physicians or physician assistants.
• Maintain confidentiality of patient information and comply with legal regulations.
• Maintain examination areas and medical assistant stations, ensuring cleanliness and sterilization of instruments.

Requirements

• 1 year of experience with EMR systems (preferred).
• 1 year of experience with medical terminology (required).
• Superior organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Understanding of medical terminology and HIPAA regulations.
• Ability to work as part of a healthcare team in a fast-paced environment.

Nice-to-haves

• Bilingual in Spanish.
