About the position

The position involves greeting donors at a plasma collection center and conducting registration procedures to verify donor suitability for the plasma pheresis process. The role includes assisting donors with screening, educating them about the donation process, and ensuring a safe and efficient environment for plasma collection.

Responsibilities

  • Assist qualified donors in completing the screening process according to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Perform health screening procedures such as blood pressure, pulse, weight, and temperature checks.
  • Conduct finger stick tests to obtain samples for hematocrit and total protein levels.
  • Educate new donors on the use of therapeutic products made from donated plasma after completing appropriate training.
  • Answer donor questions accurately and professionally.
  • Register applicants and transfer donors based on training and operational needs.
  • Answer telephone inquiries and transfer calls to appropriate staff members.
  • Maintain alertness to any donor reactions during or after the pheresis process and notify appropriate staff.
  • Record donor data accurately in the electronic donor information management system as per SOPs.
  • Understand policies and procedures associated with hyper immune programs at the center, if applicable.
  • Maintain a clean and efficient work environment and ensure sufficient operating supplies are available.
  • Promote safety in all actions and follow Health Safety & Environmental (HSE) and OSHA policies.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all personnel, donor, and center information.
  • May be cross-trained in other areas to meet business needs.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of three months experience in a clerical or customer service related position, preferably in a medical or health provider environment.
  • Ability to perform basic math calculations.
  • Ability to understand, remember, and apply oral and/or written instructions.
  • Ability to see and speak with customers and observe equipment operation.
