Position Summary: ultra focused – Work together to fearlessly uncover new possibilities Medical Science Liaison (MSL) is a field-based scientific professional within Medical Affairs, responsible for building relationships with key opinion leaders (HCPs) and medical i nstitutions. They provide fair and balanced scientific information, support medical education, and deliver clinical and educational engagement to healthcare professionals , support clinical studies, investigator-initiated research, and strategic initiatives. Work Model: Remote: Officially documented as working full-time from home, with travel to Ultragenyx's offices or other locations on occasion as needed.

Requirements

  • Advanced degree in clinical specialty (MD, PhD, PharmD) and 2+ years of MSL experience strongly preferred.
  • Rare disease experience preferred, particularly in metabolic genetic diseases
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills required
  • Demonstrated experience in effectively presenting clinical/scientific information required
  • Expert understanding of the local health care delivery system and its impact on patient care and regional medical care

  • Time and territory management skills required
  • Approximately 50-60% travel is required; overnight travel is required as needed
  • Fluency in English

Responsibilities

  • Identify Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs ), and establish and maintain scientific relationships with KOLs; connecting to KOLs in academic and community centers , u sing the science behind our products to support treatment for patients with rare and ultra-rare diseases.
  • Act as primary liaison to investigators interested in developing and performing investigator-initiated research
  • Develop and execute territory plans in alignment with country-level plans
  • Provide clinical presentations and medical information in response to unsolicited questions (as appropriate) in academic, community, healthcare provider settings , and other stakeholders, including payers
  • Provide medical information and updates through scientific exchange and disseminate scientific publications and scientific support for appropriate educational initiatives.
  • Collaborate with the Clinical Operations organization to enhance patient enrolment in company-sponsored clinical trials by identifying appropriate clinical trial sites and interacting with investigators in ongoing studies
  • Provide scientific support at medical congresses
  • Work in alignment with the department and company Brand Plan, contributing in a cross-functional manner.
  • Provide timely medical insights/information on emerging clinical/scientific teams and opportunities to internal stakeholders
  • Be compliant with Ultragenyx Code of Conduct, policies , and procedures, and e nsure all activities are compliant with company policies and SOPs.
