About the position

The Medical Office Specialist at Wesley Pediatric Specialist plays a crucial role in providing clerical expertise to ensure high-quality and efficient patient care. This position involves various administrative tasks, including patient interaction, appointment scheduling, and insurance verification, all aimed at enhancing the patient experience within the HCA Healthcare system.

Responsibilities

• Work at the reception desk, answer phones, greet and communicate with patients and providers.
• Schedule, cancel, and reschedule patient appointments.
• Check in patients and properly document registration.
• Verify insurance and patient demographics.
• File and retrieve medical records/files.
• Perform copying and faxing duties.
• Collect co-pays and cash from patients, obtaining authorization on credit cards.
• Enter charges, payments, and balance the day in the computer.
• Practice and adhere to the Code of Conduct philosophy and Mission and Value Statement.
• Perform other duties as required.
• Coordinate continuity of patient care with external healthcare organizations and facilities and referrals from the primary care provider to a specialty care provider.
• Participate on a team for data collection, health outcomes reporting, audits, and programmatic evaluation related to Patient Centered Medical Home.

Requirements

• Less than one year of experience is required.
• One to three years of experience is preferred.
