About the position

The Medical Office Receptionist Scheduler is responsible for managing patient interactions and scheduling within a healthcare setting. This role involves greeting patients, scheduling appointments, maintaining patient records, and coordinating with healthcare professionals to ensure smooth operations in the medical office. The receptionist plays a crucial role in creating a welcoming environment and minimizing patient stress while efficiently handling administrative tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Greeting patients and visitors in person or by phone.
  • Scheduling appointments for patient consultations, procedures, and visits with medical personnel.
  • Answering routine questions and taking detailed messages.
  • Maintaining patient records and accounts, filing and retrieving patient records.
  • Assisting patients in filling out insurance forms and verifying insurances.
  • Liaising and coordinating with healthcare professionals about schedules and patients.
  • Notifying providers of a patient's arrival and reminding them of service delays.
  • Maintaining a calm and orderly environment in the reception area.
  • Monitoring patient flow and checking in patients in a timely manner.
  • Obtaining demographic and health plan information according to scheduling policy.
  • Verifying health plan eligibility and documenting coverage details accurately.
  • Encouraging patients to enroll in the Patient Portal and processing enrollments.
  • Generating no-show/missed appointment letters daily and processing patient letters.
  • Scheduling referrals within 24 hours, except for urgent cases.
  • Answering incoming calls professionally and transferring them to the appropriate department.
  • Documenting messages in the EHR Telephone Template and tasks them to medical staff.
  • Processing copayments and maintaining accurate financial records.

Requirements

  • Experience in customer service (2 years preferred).
  • Knowledge of medical terminology (2 years preferred).
  • Proficient computer skills (2 years preferred).
  • Ability to commute to Corona, CA 92881 (required).
  • Ability to relocate to Corona, CA 92881 before starting work (required).

  • Experience in wound care.
