About The Position

Laredo Technical Services, Inc. (LTSI) is seeking a Medical Office Clerk to provide administrative support in wards, clinics, and other departments of the 81 Medical Group at Keesler Air Force Base, MS. LTSI is a Certified Service-Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) and Minority Business Enterprise (MBE) that provides a broad range of administrative, project management, and medical staffing support services. Requirements

  • High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) equivalency
  • Medical terminology knowledge is required
  • Must maintain certification in Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • At least 6 months of experience in a medical office setting
  • Fully qualified typist with a minimum of 50 WPM

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a fully qualified typist with a minimum of 50 WPM.
  • Utilize general medical ethics, telephone etiquette, and excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Perform general office administrative and clerical duties, including receptionist duties and answering telephones.
  • Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Greet patients and visitors at a front desk, information center, or office setting.
  • Answer the main office phone line and direct calls to the appropriate section.
  • Take messages as required.
  • Arrange and schedule medical appointments and determine patient eligibility for services.
  • Schedule appointments, relay general instructions to patients, or make referrals to other sections.
  • Obtain updates and file medical records as needed.
  • Organize and research patient records, extract needed information, and review records for completeness, accuracy, and consistency.
  • Ensure the arrival of medical records prior to appointments.
  • Initiate and locate patient medical records as needed.
  • Obtain documentation requested by healthcare providers (e.g., test results, or documentation not yet filed).
  • Perform other administrative and clerical duties in support of medical care and operational support.
  • Create appointment schedules and templates in the patient appointment computer system.
  • Conduct end-of-day processes and resolve any delinquent or pending appointments in the computer system.
  • Coordinate with Group Practice Managers regarding appointment template management and make changes as necessary.
  • Attend access to care meetings monthly.
  • Attend safety huddles and report on any foreseen patient safety issues.
  • Monitor, track, and report open encounters.
  • Assist with administrative duties assigned with Coronavirus Disease testing and vaccine administration as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
