Job Summary Under the general supervision of the Laboratory Director; the Medical Lab Technologist performs medical laboratory procedures and reports results in a prompt, accurate and reliable manner according to established hospital and departmental policies and procedures. Performs and demonstrates proficiency and understanding of the clinical laboratory, assists in instructing other personnel as assigned, and performs with a perceptive depth of clinical laboratory tests and procedures which require the exercise of independent judgment and responsibility. The incumbent will carry-out duties by adhering to the highest standards of ethical and moral conduct, acts in the best interest of Three Crosses Regional Hospital, and fully supports the mission, vision, and values of Three Crosses Regional Hospital.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in medical laboratory science, or related field from an accredited institution
  • 1-3 years Clinical laboratory experience or equivalent clinical laboratory training program.
  • Experience in a hospital laboratory setting or medical related environment.
  • Pass Fit Test
  • Meet all Employee Health Requirement

Nice To Haves

  • Certification in any of the following: ASCP (American Society for Clinical Pathology), AMT (American Medical Technologies), NCA (National Credentialing Agency), or HEW (Health Education & Welfare).
  • BLS/CPR certification
  • Phlebotomy certification

Responsibilities

  • Perform phlebotomy, specimen collection, specimen processing.
  • Performs efficiently and accurately all aspects of lab testing from the pre-analytical phase through analytical and post analytical phases.
  • Participate in proficiency testing, QA, QC and process improvement activities.
  • Perform instrument maintenance.
  • Comply with all laboratory policies and OSHA regulations related to safety, cleanliness and infection control.
  • Ensures delivery of patient care including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient outcomes.
  • Revises plan of patient care as needed.
  • Provides compassion to the patient and the patient’s family members.
  • Attend staff meetings as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.
