About the position
The Medical Laboratory Technician at CHI St. Francis Health is responsible for the comprehensive management of laboratory samples, including their collection, processing, and analysis. This role emphasizes the importance of quality control and accurate result interpretation, ensuring that all laboratory operations align with the organization's commitment to high-quality healthcare services.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for pre-analytic, analytic, and post-analytic collection and processing of samples.
- Properly maintain and operate instrumentation and equipment.
- Perform quality control and interpret results, following up with corrective action when needed.
- Conduct patient testing, review results, and accurately release results into the Laboratory Information System (LIS).
- Run proficiency testing samples as required by compliance.
- Answer phone calls and order testing in the LIS.
Requirements
- Associates Degree in a relevant field.
- Medical Laboratory Technician Certification recognized by American Society of Clinical Pathologists, American Medical Technologist, or American Association of Biolanalysts within 6 months of hire.
Nice-to-haves
- 6-12 months of lab experience.
