About The Position

Pipestone County Medical Center and Family Clinic is currently seeking to find qualified individuals to join our growing team. We are committed to providing high quality services to our southwest Minnesota community. This position involves performing waived, moderate, and high complexity laboratory tests. Responsibilities include day-to-day laboratory technical operations, quality control, quality assurance, procedure/instrument maintenance, corrective action, and test result correlation. The role requires utilizing scientific principles and technical skills. The Medical Laboratory Scientist performs a variety of clinical laboratory tests and procedures, including continuing education. The position requires working every 7th weekend and one holiday per year, with no or limited call. This position may be eligible for up to a $10,000 sign-on bonus.

Requirements

Associate’s degree in MLT or laboratory science from an accredited two-year college or technical school required or Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university in clinical science or satisfactory grade in HHS exam and 6 years working experience as a MLT required.
BLS certified or must be obtained within 1 week of hire.
Breath Alcohol Testing (BAT) and DOT Drug Testing certified or able to obtain within one year from date of hire.
Valid driver’s license required.

Nice To Haves

MLT-ASCP board certified or NCA certified preferred.
Department of Transportation Specimen Collection Certificate preferred or able to obtain within one year from date of hire.

Responsibilities

Performs work of waived, moderate, and high complexity levels, involving all aspects of the clinical lab.
Utilizes scientific principles as well as technical, procedural and problem-solving aptitudes for day-to-day Laboratory technical operations, quality control, quality assurance, procedure/instrument maintenance and corrective action, test result correlation, and clinical laboratory related duties.
Performs a variety of clinical laboratory tests, procedures, and related duties including waived, moderate and highly complex testing.
Utilizes scientific principles as well as technical, procedural, and problem-solving aptitudes for day-to-day laboratory technical operations, quality control, quality assurance, procedure/instrument maintenance and corrective action, test result correlation, and clinical laboratory related continuing education.
