About the position
The Medical Lab Technician (MLT) II position at BJC HealthCare System involves performing specimen processing and routine/complex testing on blood and other specimens. This role is essential for ensuring accurate and timely laboratory results, contributing to the overall quality of patient care. Responsibilities
- Reports and maintains record of patient test results through the laboratory computer system accurately, meeting published turnaround times for routine testing and stats.
- Documents patient test management problems/concerns on quality documents and initiates corrective action.
- Performs quality controls for all equipment and troubleshoots malfunctioning instrumentation as necessary.
- Monitors quality control performance and corrects any problems and or reports any problems to the appropriate department.
- Operates all instrumentation in assigned areas to deliver precise, timely, and accurate laboratory results.
- Performs laboratory procedures for specimen collection, processing, and test analysis.
- Trains new personnel in methods, procedures, and use of equipment and instruments specific to the assigned area.
Requirements
- Associate's Degree in Physical/Life Sciences or related field
- ASCP, AMT, AAB or equivalent registered
Nice-to-haves
- Previous work in a clinical/hospital laboratory (preferred)
