About the position
Responsible to perform complex laboratory tests on blood, body fluids, cells, and tissues. Identify bacteria, parasites, and other microorganisms, analyze chemical content of fluids, cross match blood for transfusion and organ transplantation, aseptically prepare cells for use in cellular therapies. The results of these tests are used in diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease.
Responsibilities
- Perform complex laboratory tests on blood, body fluids, cells, and tissues.
- Identify bacteria, parasites, and other microorganisms.
- Analyze chemical content of fluids.
- Cross match blood for transfusion and organ transplantation.
- Prepare cells aseptically for use in cellular therapies.
Requirements
- Associate's degree in Laboratory Science or Medical Laboratory Technology from an accredited program (NAACLS/ABHES) or equivalent education with required coursework in chemistry and biology.
- Medical Lab Technician Certification through ASCP, AMT, ACHI or equivalent must be obtained within 18 months of employment.
- Documentation of equivalency evaluation for applicants trained outside of the United States.
