About the position

The Medical Director position at Theoria Medical involves overseeing skilled nursing facilities (SNF) while ensuring high-quality patient care and compliance with regulations. The role emphasizes work-life balance, flexible scheduling, and a supportive environment with no on-call or weekend duties. The Medical Director will collaborate with Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants to manage resident care and participate in quality improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as medical director for skilled nursing facilities (SNF) and participate in administrative and quality initiatives.
  • Attend and participate in monthly quality assurance and process improvement meetings.
  • Provide guidance to facility staff and ensure compliance with state and federal regulations.
  • Supervise facility clinical staff and train them as necessary.
  • Collaborate with Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants to manage day-to-day resident care.
  • Diagnose and treat patients with acute illnesses and chronic diseases.
  • Complete provider documentation in Theoria's proprietary electronic health record (EHR) system, ChartEasy™.
  • Participate in Theoria's Chronic Care Management, Transitional Care, RPM, and other medical quality initiatives.

Requirements

  • Medical degree (MD or DO) with a valid medical license.
  • Experience in a medical director role or similar leadership position.
  • Strong knowledge of state and federal regulations for skilled nursing facilities.
  • Ability to supervise and collaborate with Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants.
  • Proficiency in using electronic health record (EHR) systems.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in post-acute care settings.
  • Familiarity with PointClickCare, MatrixCare, and American HealthTech EHR systems.
  • Leadership experience in healthcare settings.
