About the position

Baptist Health is the largest healthcare system serving central Alabama, providing comprehensive hospital-based and outpatient services to nearly 60 percent of the residents in Montgomery, Autauga and Elmore counties. The Medical Assistant should provide quality patient care in a prompt and professional manner; assists in delivery of patient education; responsible for communication of patient information to and from physician; assumes various job tasks as assigned. Responsible for direct, individualized, goal directed patient care under the supervision of Physician.

Requirements

  • High School Graduate or equivalent required
  • Medical training through a certificate program or at least 2 years experience as a medical assistant in a clinical setting
  • Knowledge of medical equipment such as Glucometer, PT INR machine, wheel chair, and thermometers
  • Knowledge of tests such as urinalysis and EKG
  • Organizational skills
  • Oral and written communication and computer skills
  • Customer service skills
  • Ability to effectively communicate with patients, visitors, and coworkers
  • Ability to show proficiency by passing all written and clinical tests
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 3 months of position
