Medical Assistant/Receptionist (Non-Certified)

About the position

The Medical Assistant/Receptionist (Non-Certified) position is a part-time role based in Huntington Beach, CA, aimed at individuals who are motivated and compassionate. This role provides an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in both administrative and clinical tasks within a healthcare setting, specifically in cardiology. The position does not require prior healthcare experience or certification, as on-the-job training is provided. The Medical Assistant will play a crucial role in patient care, including scheduling appointments, managing patient records, and assisting physicians during procedures.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients and visitors in a courteous and welcoming manner.
• Handle checking patients in and out, completing paperwork and providing support as needed.
• Answer all phone calls, handle inquiries and relay messages accordingly.
• Schedule appointments, procedures, and follow-up visits.
• Verify insurance coverage, request prior authorizations, and collect payments.
• Organize and maintain accurate and up-to-date patient medical records in accordance with established protocols and regulations.
• Maintain and clean patient rooms for routine appointments.
• Record pertinent health information, collect vital signs and conduct EKGs.
• Assist with cardiac device interrogations.
• Prepare operating room and patients for procedures, assisting physician and surgical team as needed.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree is required.
• Able to commit at least 1 year (ideally, 2 years or more) to this position.
• Has exceptional customer service, organizational skills, and attention to detail.
• Ability to multitask, prioritize tasks and responsibilities, and meet deadlines.
• Basic computer knowledge with proficient typing speed and accuracy.
• Values patient confidentiality and adheres to HIPAA regulations.

Nice-to-haves

• Bilingual in a second language, such as Spanish or Vietnamese, is a plus!
