About the position

The Primary Care Medical Assistant at Mercy Hospital St Louis plays a crucial role in preparing patients for their visits, assisting with clinical tasks, and ensuring a smooth workflow within the primary care setting. This full-time position involves direct patient interaction, clinical support, and collaboration with healthcare providers to deliver high-quality care.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare patients for visits by completing the Advanced Standard room process.
  • Enter the chief complaint and take patient vital signs.
  • Review patient history and allergies.
  • Complete thorough medication reconciliation.
  • Work with the Encounter Guide to close open care gaps such as fall risk and screenings.
  • Recheck elevated blood pressures and complete necessary documentation in Epic.
  • Assist with in-office testing including drawing blood and EKGs.
  • Administer vaccines and injections within scope of practice.
  • Schedule follow-up appointments as needed.
  • Collaborate with providers and the clinical care team to monitor and coordinate care delivery.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Must obtain BLS certification within 90 days of hire.
  • Active Medical Assistant certification/registration (RMA, CCMA, CMA) for Certified Medical Assistant role.
  • Diploma in Practical Nursing and active LPN licensure for LPN qualifications.
  • Preferred: 6 months of clinical healthcare experience, preferably in a primary care office.
