About the position

The Medical Assistant / Phlebotomy Technician role at Ultimate Health and Wellness involves providing essential clinical and administrative support within a healthcare setting. This part-time position focuses on delivering high-quality patient care, performing blood draws, and assisting healthcare providers with various medical tasks, all while maintaining a patient-centered approach.

Responsibilities

  • Assist healthcare providers with patient examinations and procedures.
  • Prepare patients for exams by taking vital signs and medical histories.
  • Maintain a sterile and efficient clinical environment, including cleaning and restocking examination rooms.
  • Administer medications and injections as directed by medical staff.
  • Perform venipuncture and capillary blood draws with accuracy and compassion.
  • Properly label and handle specimens for laboratory analysis.
  • Educate patients on the blood draw process and explain pre- and post-procedure instructions.
  • Schedule patient appointments and maintain organized patient records.
  • Manage patient intake and discharge processes, including collecting co-pays and verifying insurance information.
  • Assist in managing and retrieving laboratory results and other reports for healthcare providers.
  • Follow all health and safety protocols, including infection control measures.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Phlebotomy certification required (CPT or equivalent).
  • Certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA) or equivalent preferred.
  • Previous experience in a medical assistant or phlebotomy role is required.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, procedures, and lab tests.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a compassionate approach to patient care.
  • Proficient in electronic health records (EHR) systems and basic office software.
  • Ability to multitask and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
