Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED- Required
  • Basic Life Support Program (BLS) American Heart Association- Required
  • Medical Assisting Program- Required
  • In Lieu of Program, 5 Years of Medical Assistant Experience- Required
  • Certification from one of the 7 Associations below- Required
  • Registered Medical Assistant (RMA)- American Allied Health
  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA)-American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA)
  • Medical Assistant (RMA)- American Medical Technologists (AMT)
  • Registered Medical Assistant (RMA)- American Registry of Medical Assistants
  • Nationally Registered Certified Medical Assistant (NRCMA)- National Association of Health Professionals (NAHP)
  • National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA)- National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT)
  • Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA)-National Healthcareer Association (NHA)

Responsibilities

  • Prepare examination and treatment areas.
  • Document care of patients via electronic medical record.
  • Collect, complete and process lab specimens and required paperwork.
  • Prepare, administer medications and immunizations, under the supervision of RN/Provider.
  • Process sample medications, prescriptions, and refills as directed.
  • Provide patient education.
  • Assist provider with screening and follow-up with patient test results.
