About the position

The position involves preparing and rooming patients for exams, performing laboratory procedures, assisting physicians with procedures and surgeries, administering medications, providing patient education, and communicating with healthcare team members. The role requires advanced clinical skills and the ability to maintain a clean and organized work environment. The incumbent must demonstrate knowledge of patient care appropriate to various age groups and participate in quality improvement activities.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares and rooms the patient for exam by obtaining vital signs and documenting/updating pertinent health information.
  • Performs laboratory procedures using principles of aseptic technique and standard precautions.
  • Assists the physician/provider with procedures and surgeries.
  • Administers medications under physician/provider orders, including immunizations and IV therapy.
  • Provides basic patient education on tasks, skills, treatment, and self-care.
  • Communicates with physicians and other members of the health care team.
  • Documents and communicates accurate and timely information regarding patient conditions.
  • Performs advanced clinical tasks or skills under clinical supervision.
  • Organizes and prepares exam rooms, lab, and work areas.
  • Completes routine maintenance and quality monitoring of clinic equipment.
  • Participates in patient-centered initiatives and quality improvement activities.

Requirements

  • Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license issued by the state.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association.
  • Completion of an accredited or approved program in Practical Nursing.
  • No experience required.
