About the position
The Medical Assistant (MA - non-certified) plays a crucial role in providing patient support services and performing office clerical duties under the supervision of a licensed medical practitioner. This position focuses on coordinating patient care and collaborating with healthcare providers to ensure high-quality patient outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Assists in examination and treatment of patients under the direction of a provider; measures vital signs, and interviews patients to obtain health histories.
- Provides health promotion and counseling to patients and caregivers under the provider's direction.
- Identifies patient care requirements by establishing personal rapport with potential and actual patients and caregivers.
- Administers medications and immunizations (injectable, oral, topical, aerosol), provides wound care, and personal health interventions at the direction of a provider, as deemed competent.
- Performs patient testing to include specimen collection, CLIA-waved testing, blood collection, and electrocardiogram.
- Serves as a communication liaison for the healthcare team.
- Assists with patient scheduling and follow-up care.
- Maintains accurate, detailed patient records and charts using an electronic medical record (EMR) system.
- Maintains a safe and clean work environment by complying with policies and procedures, rules, and regulations.
- May perform other duties as assigned or requested.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- 6 months - 1 year medical experience required.
- Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) completion.
Nice-to-haves
- Graduate of a Medical Assistant Program.
- Experience as a Medical Assistant.
