About the position

The Medical Assistant at Sunrise Community Health Center is responsible for performing both administrative and clinical duties under the supervision of medical providers. This part-time position requires a commitment of 20 hours per week, focusing on patient care and support in a community health setting. The role emphasizes a quality, customer-first, and compassionate approach to healthcare, ensuring efficient clinic flow and effective communication with patients and providers.

Responsibilities

• Perform administrative and clinical duties under the direction of medical providers.
• Schedule appointments and assist with follow-up care and referrals.
• Take and record vital signs and medical histories of patients.
• Prepare patients for examination and assist medical providers with procedures.
• Draw blood and administer medications as directed by the medical provider.
• Maintain and provide appropriate follow-up flags and phone notes in the EHR desktop.
• Chart pertinent data in the EHR and prepare treatment rooms for patient examinations.
• Interview patients to obtain medical information and measure vital signs, weight, and height.
• Authorize drug refills in adherence to scope of practice and refill protocol.
• Explain treatment procedures, medications, diets, or physician's instructions to patients.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED required; Associate's degree preferred.
• 3-4 years of related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.
• Certified Nurses Aid and QMAP or EMT Certification required, or MA Diploma and/or MA experience.

Nice-to-haves

• Bilingual in Spanish is preferred.
• Experience in a community health setting.
