About the position

The Medical Assistant (MA) at Southwoods Health will play a crucial role in providing comprehensive, quality patient care in the Primary Care office located in Calcutta, Ohio. This position involves a blend of administrative and clinical responsibilities, ensuring a welcoming environment for patients while supporting healthcare professionals in their duties.

Responsibilities

• Create a welcoming, friendly, and professional environment for patients and visitors through exceptional customer service.
• Room patients in a timely manner utilizing two patient identifiers.
• Obtain and record vital signs, major complaint, medications, and allergies in patient chart.
• Collect various specimens by following proper specimen collection, storing, and recording protocols.
• Prepare lab specimens in a timely manner for transport to the hospital lab by maintaining positive specimen identification throughout processing.
• Report and record patient critical lab values, adverse reactions, and pertinent information promptly to physician and team members.
• Schedule appointments, answer phones, file, maintain medical records, and perform other administrative duties as assigned.
• Recognize patients' rights and responsibilities and support them in the performance of job duties.
• Ensure all processes at the responsible physician practice maintain compliance with all regulatory agencies.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Graduated from an accredited Medical Assistant program and obtained a diploma; OR maintains certification renewals from one of the following associations throughout the course of employment: Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) certification through the American Medical Technologists (AMT), Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) certification through the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMT), or Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) certification through the National Healthcareer Association (NHA).
• Current BLS Certification through AHA.
