About the position

Fairview has an immediate opening for a Medical Assistant/LPN to join our team at the Elk River Clinic. Join Fairview, the largest healthcare system in the state! This is a 0.7 FTE (56 hours per two week pay period), benefits-eligible opening. This position is eligible for up to a $2000 New Hire Sign On Bonus! Tentative Schedule: Mon- 6:45am-6:15pm Wed- 10am-5:30pm Fri- 6:45am-5:15pm Tues/Thurs- OFF. The Fairview Clinic - Elk River has 21 specialties and over 35 different providers! The staff at this location have a positive relationship, and we see this walking down the halls. This is a more rural site which allows for relationships to be built with patients as they come in to see you over the years. As a member of the care team, the Medical Assistant supports quality patient- and family-centered care principles through performing a variety of high-level functions within a care team to support the needs of the healthcare team and patients/families.

Responsibilities

  • Gather information and documents to support the patient visit.
  • Adhere to all policies, procedures and practice guidelines.
  • Promote teamwork with all members of the health care team.
  • Maintain complete, timely and accurate clinical documentation for each patient.
  • Look for opportunities to improve processes and workflow.
  • Deliver care as delegated by the physician/authorized practitioner or RN.
  • Follow the patient's plan of care.
  • Prioritize work based on patient acuity, available resources, patient/family preferences, provider schedule.
  • Perform high and low risk technical procedures defined by the clinical setting.
  • Recognize when different approaches may be needed based on age or cultural differences.
  • Implement assigned aspects of the patient teaching plan.
  • Document care in the medical record.
  • Effectively communicate compliance and concerns to delegating physician/authorized practitioner/RN.
  • Assure continuity of care for all assigned patients.
  • Respond appropriately to emergent situations.
  • Function as care team assistant as needed.
  • Communicate effectively with other members of the health care team.
  • Ensure confidentiality of all information regarding patients, staff members or Fairview business issues.
  • Partner with patient/caregiver in care/decision making.
  • Ensure a safe, secure environment.
  • Individualize plan of care to meet patient needs.
  • Modify clinical interventions based on population served.
  • Provide patient education based on assessment of learning needs of patient/caregiver.
  • Identify opportunities for improvement in workflow.
  • Participate in meetings to support initiatives.
  • Engage in change to improve the work environment and patient experience.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant Program or LPN is required.
  • Basic Life Support Certification is required.

Nice-to-haves

  • Ambulatory Care Experience is preferred.
  • AAMA Certification is preferred.
