The Medical Assistant position at Claiborne Primary Care involves performing basic nursing procedures under general supervision, assisting physicians with examinations and procedures, and ensuring a safe and therapeutic environment for patients. This full-time role requires maintaining departmental standards and supporting patient care processes in a busy medical practice.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, Quality Assessment program, and safety, environmental, and infection control standards.
  • Performs basic nursing procedures such as measuring patient height and weight, taking vital signs, and completing ambulatory intake.
  • Interviews patients, retrieves initial evaluations, inputs information into EMR, and reports to appropriate practitioners.
  • Maintains a safe, comfortable, and therapeutic environment for patients and families during visits.
  • Assists physicians with examinations, procedures, and other processes related to direct patient care.
  • Ensures an adequate stock of supplies and necessary equipment.
  • Monitors and ensures accuracy of recording on patient's medical records and maintains required reports and statistics.
  • Inspects area daily for compliance with policies, procedures, regulations, and standards and takes corrective action when appropriate.
  • Assists with cleaning and re-stocking examination rooms and transports instruments to sterile processing as needed.
  • Assists with chart prep and provider schedule management.
  • Supports provider roles through assistance with note prep, verbal order entry, order proposal, and prescription refill management.
  • Competent at reception role, including professional scripting when answering calls and scheduling appointments.
  • Demonstrates competence in performing critical skills according to age-specific needs of the population served.
  • Enhances professional growth through participation in educational programs and workshops.
  • Cooperates with other personnel to achieve department objectives and maintains good employee relations.
  • Attends meetings as required and promotes a positive work environment.

Requirements

  • Certified Medical Assistant required.
  • Sufficient education to meet the standards for achievement of the required license and/or certification.
