About the position

Now offering a $1,500 sign on bonus for Medical Assistant New Hires! Effective December 1, 2024 and expires March 31, 2025. Applicable only for MA & MOS positions in the Centers of Excellence and Maryland Family Care practices, of which this role applies to. The Medical Assistant I demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development appropriate to the ages of patients served by their department. Additionally, the MAI demonstrates competency in applying these principles when providing individualized care to specific patients. Assists the MD/NP/PA in performing procedures. Operates, maintains and calibrates all equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Rooming patients and obtaining vitals
  • Entering patient information into electronic medical record (EMR)
  • Setting up and assisting with office procedures
  • Chaperone providers during patient examination
  • Taking pre-op and post-op photos of patients
  • Maintaining surgical instruments and transporting instruments to Central Sterile (CSS)
  • Processing surgical specimens and transporting them to Pathology
  • Maintaining and stocking exam rooms
  • Ordering clinical supplies
  • Completing FMLA and Disability forms
  • Cleaning and resetting exam rooms
  • Travel to satellite locations as needed

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • A minimum of one year experience is preferred as a Medical Assistant or EMT-Paramedic
  • CPR-preferred
  • Computer proficiency and technical aptitude with the ability to utilize one or more of the following: Microsoft Word, Power Point, Excel, Microsoft Outlook, Meditech (if applicable to position), Epic (if applicable to position), Performance Manager/NetLearning
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak the English language in an understandable manner
  • Must be able to work independently and possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action
  • Must possess the ability to effectively communicate and deal tactfully with other personnel, visitors, patients, physicians, customers, and the general public
  • Must be flexible, have personal integrity, and the ability to function effectively as a team with other employees
  • Must be able to follow written and oral instructions
