About the position

Tareen Dermatology is seeking exceptional Pre-Med and Pre-PA students to join their team as Medical Assistants. This full-time position offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a fast-paced dermatology clinic while receiving mentorship and guidance for medical school or PA school applications. The role involves performing routine administrative and clinical tasks to ensure smooth operations within the clinic, with a commitment of at least 14 months.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares patients for the health care visit by directing and/or accompanying them to the examining room.
  • Accompanies provider into the patient examination room to transcribe a history and physical exam, and documents accurately the provider's encounter with the patient.
  • Verifies patient information by interviewing patients, reviewing and/or recording medical history, taking vital signs, and confirming the purpose of visit or treatment.
  • Acts as liaison between doctors and support staff, mediating issues and problems as necessary.
  • Maintains a safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following and enforcing standards and procedures; complying with legal regulations.
  • Monitors, cleans, maintains, and stocks exam rooms.
  • Accurately and thoroughly documents medical visits and procedures as they are being performed at the direction of the provider.
  • Ensures that all clinical data, lab or other test results, and the interpretation of the results by the provider are recorded accurately in the medical record.
  • Generates and submits orders as directed by the provider.
  • Calls and reviews pathology reports with patients.
  • Answers and returns telephone calls in a timely manner.
  • Follows HIPAA and OSHA policies.
  • Travels to alternate satellite clinics as required.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Proficient in typing, spelling, punctuation, grammar, and oral communication.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Knowledge of anatomy and medical terminology.
  • Organizational skills with a focus on tracking patient care and improving patient flow.
  • Professional demeanor and recognition of privacy considerations for patients and families.
  • Detail-oriented.
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
  • Strong computer skills.
  • Ability to work well independently and as part of a team.
  • Bachelor's Degree in a science-based program required.
  • Previous medical field experience preferred.
