About the position

The Medical Assistant Certified/Registered position in the Float Pool at SSM Health involves providing essential support across various clinics in the Greater Fond du Lac Region. This full-time role requires flexibility and travel between clinics, with a focus on patient care, administrative tasks, and clinical duties under the supervision of healthcare providers. The position offers a structured schedule primarily during the day, with no mandatory nights or weekends, making it ideal for those seeking a dynamic work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Assists with treatments ordered by the provider as supervised by the provider or registered nurse.
  • Interviews patients, measures vital signs, and records information on patients' charts.
  • Prepares treatment rooms for examination of patients.
  • Performs basic clerical duties including answering the phone, maintaining records, scheduling patients, and filing.
  • Performs basic materials management functions to include ordering and stocking of supplies.
  • Assists with maintaining a clean and orderly environment.
  • May document the provider's encounter with patients, listing all proper diagnoses and symptoms, as well as follow-up instructions and prescriptions.
  • Transcribes patient orders including laboratory tests, radiology tests, and medications.
  • Works in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Certified or Registered Medical Assistant or Licensed Practical Nurse required.
  • High School diploma/GED or 10 years of work experience required.
  • Basic Life Support HealthCare Provider (BLS HCP) certification required.
  • No prior experience required.

Nice-to-haves

  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Comfortable with phlebotomy skills or willing to learn.
  • Willingness to travel and flexibility in scheduling.
