The Machinery Maintenance Mechanic position involves operation and preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of complex piping, powering, shafting, mechanical components, and machinery. This includes winches, gear and chain driven transmission systems, hydraulic and pneumatic actuators, pump motors, cranes and hoists, and boat and barge propulsion systems, including gasoline and diesel engines. The role requires adjustment and calibration of mechanical systems within design tolerances, as well as operation and maintenance of high-pressure air, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems. The position also involves the use, assembly, and installation of rigging for lifting, handling, and positioning of prototype test components and fixtures, with knowledge of rigging materials such as wire rope, natural and synthetic fiber rope, clips, shackles, hooks, pad-eyes, swivels, rams, and jacks.
