About The Position

This role is responsible for operating, maintaining, troubleshooting, and supporting the reliability of HVAC, process mechanical, exhaust, and industrial waste systems within facility and manufacturing environments. The position works closely with operations, engineering, OEMs, and maintenance teams to ensure safe operation, system uptime, and operational continuity. The individual will support both routine maintenance activities and critical operational response efforts across complex mechanical systems.

Requirements

  • Strong understanding of HVAC, process mechanical, exhaust, and industrial waste systems.
  • Experience operating and maintaining rotating equipment including pumps, motors, fans, and mechanical systems.
  • Ability to troubleshoot flow issues, vibration, equipment degradation, and mechanical failures.
  • Familiarity with UPW, RO, EDI, cooling water, exhaust, and wastewater treatment systems.
  • Knowledge of preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance practices.
  • Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, mechanical drawings, and system schematics.
  • Experience using CMMS systems for maintenance tracking and documentation.
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and root cause analysis skills.
  • Excellent communication and coordination skills across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Commitment to safety, reliability, and operational excellence.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate’s degree in Mechanical Technology, HVAC Technology, Industrial Maintenance, or related field preferred.
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification preferred.
  • HVAC or mechanical maintenance certifications preferred.
  • Industrial wastewater or process systems certifications preferred.
  • Proof of education, licenses, and certifications will be required where applicable

Responsibilities

  • Operate, monitor, maintain, and troubleshoot HVAC, process mechanical, exhaust, and waste systems supporting facility and manufacturing operations.
  • Perform preventive maintenance (PM), corrective maintenance (CM), predictive maintenance (PdM), and emergency response activities.
  • Perform routine operational rounds and equipment inspections.
  • Monitor system performance including pressure, temperature, flow, differential pressure, tank levels, vibration, and equipment operating conditions.
  • Operate and maintain HVAC systems including MAHs, RAHs, GAHs, AHUs, CRAHs, CRACs, chilled water systems, condenser water systems, heat recovery systems, and cooling towers.
  • Inspect and maintain filters, belts, bearings, pulleys, dampers, coils, valves, strainers, and mechanical supports.
  • Support airflow verification, system balancing activities, and pressurization requirements.
  • Operate and maintain process mechanical systems including UPW distribution, RO systems, EDI systems, mixed bed polishers, cooling water systems, process chilled water systems, chemical distribution piping, and utility skids.
  • Inspect pumps, motors, seals, couplings, expansion joints, flexible connections, and piping systems.
  • Perform pump alignment checks and verify rotating equipment condition.
  • Troubleshoot pump cavitation, seal failures, bearing failures, flow restrictions, pressure loss, and abnormal vibration.
  • Operate and maintain exhaust systems including general exhaust, process exhaust, acid exhaust, solvent exhaust, toxic exhaust, scrubbers, abatement equipment, exhaust fans, and duct systems.
  • Inspect exhaust fans, motors, impellers, belts, dampers, ductwork, supports, and exhaust distribution systems.
  • Verify airflow performance and identify restrictions, leakage, fouling, or mechanical degradation.
  • Operate and maintain industrial waste systems including acid waste, caustic waste, chemical waste, neutralization systems, wastewater systems, transfer pumps, lift stations, tanks, mixers, and sludge handling systems.
  • Inspect waste piping, containment systems, tanks, valves, transfer equipment, and filtration components.
  • Support chemical transfer activities and waste handling operations.
  • Perform vibration inspections and identify mechanical reliability concerns.
  • Support precision maintenance activities including alignment verification, lubrication inspections, torque checks, and equipment condition assessments.
  • Troubleshoot rotating equipment failures and degraded mechanical performance.
  • Support root cause analysis (RCA) activities and implement corrective actions.
  • Participate in system startups, shutdowns, outage activities, and operational recoveries.
  • Support installation verification, startup readiness, pre-functional inspections, and commissioning activities.
  • Participate in functional testing and operational acceptance activities.
  • Execute Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) and mechanical isolation procedures.
  • Follow confined space, chemical handling, and site EHS requirements.
  • Identify unsafe conditions, leaks, abnormal equipment conditions, and reliability risks.
  • Complete PM and CM work orders and update CMMS records.
  • Maintain maintenance logs, shift passdowns, and operational records.
  • Support development and updates of SOPs, MOPs, EOPs, PM procedures, and maintenance standards.
  • Coordinate with operations, engineering, OEMs, and maintenance teams during maintenance and outage activities.
  • Maintain equipment uptime, operational reliability, and manufacturing support requirements.
  • Any other duties or responsibilities that may be assigned to you in your role.
