About the position

The Mechanical Inspector position at Calmax Technology involves ensuring that precision machined parts meet specified quality standards. The role is focused on conducting inspections, verifying specifications, and maintaining quality control throughout the manufacturing process. This position is for the 2nd shift in Tualatin, OR, and requires attention to detail and the ability to interpret engineering documents.

Responsibilities

  • Review engineering drawings, specifications, and blueprints to understand required measurements, materials, and tolerances.
  • Ensure parts are produced according to blueprints and verify specifications.
  • Receive and adhere to Quality Plans provided by quality engineers and examine materials or products for surface defects or flaws.
  • Conduct visual and dimensional inspections to ensure parts meet specifications and tolerances.
  • Check for defects such as cracks, burrs, or improper finishes that could affect functionality or customer perception.
  • Approve finished products, conduct visual and measurement tests, return products for re-work, and confirm re-work materials for workmanship and conformance to the quality plan.
  • Perform corrective actions, internal audits, first article, in-process, and final inspection on assemblies.
  • Initiate and complete all quality (Inspection) related records and documents with minimal supervision.
  • Perform precision surface plate and CMM inspection verifications on mechanical parts, components, assemblies, and materials.
  • Construct complex inspection setups and perform required inspections to determine product acceptance.

Requirements

  • High school diploma, general education degree (GED) or equivalent.
  • Experience in a precision machine shop environment.
  • Ability to interpret geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T).
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Nice-to-haves

  • Training in basic shop and measurement math, including linear measurement, metrics, algebra, and geometry.
  • Familiarity with ISO documentation and processes.
  • Experience CMM Programming with Zeiss and Mitutoyo MCOSMOS.
