About the position

At STERIS, we help our Customers create a healthier and safer world by providing innovative healthcare and life science product and service solutions around the globe. The Mechanical Engineer will utilize problem solving techniques and engineering principals such as statics, machine design, thermodynamics, heat transfer, material selection and fabrication to develop solutions for medical equipment. You will be involved in 3D Modeling, Design Controls documentation, Design Verification Testing and hands-on prototyping while developing new and innovative solutions for our Customers. This role can be based in Mentor (OH), St Louis (MO), or Plymouth (MN). This is a hybrid role with the requirement of working onsite 3 days/week. Travel required 10% - 20% of time.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop mechanical components and systems using 3D modeling software and analysis.
  • Collaborate with other engineers, designers and technicians to ensure that all design aspects are aligned with the program's goals.
  • Participate in product verification and validation actions.
  • Communicate technical information to management.
  • Work with outside vendors to ensure components used are appropriate for use and delivered on time.
  • Create Drawings and bill of materials for assemblies and individual components.
  • Create technical documents for testing, crating, shipping, installation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Chemical, or Biomedical Engineering.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of Mechanical Engineering experience. This can include Mechanical Engineering internships or co-ops.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional team environment.
  • 3D modeling experience using SolidWorks, Creo, or other 3D CAD software.

Nice-to-haves

  • Test method development experience, preferred.
  • Experience working in a regulated industry, preferred.
  • 2 years of experience in product design, preferred.
  • Finite Elements Analysis (FEA) and Ansys experience, preferred.
