The Mechanical Engineer I position at Hargrove Engineers & Constructors is an entry-level role focused on performing routine designs and engineering assignments under direct supervision. Responsibilities
- Perform routine designs of less complex engineering assignments under direct supervision.
- Familiarity and use of department design and drafting standards.
- Assist with on-site support during startup phases.
- Develop conceptual layouts and cost studies for engineering tasks.
- Produce estimate level preliminary designs and material take-offs.
- Create detailed design calculations and sketches for materials of construction.
- Assist the drafting group in resolving routine layout and detailing problems.
- Consult with design leaders from other disciplines for project completion.
- Review and check vendor drawings and other discipline drawings for mechanical input.
- Assist in engineering activities such as stress analysis and material procurement specifications.
- Support flexibility and stress analysis of piping systems.
- Assist in selecting piping specialty items.
Requirements
- Bachelor or Master of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university.
- Engineer in training (EIT) registration is strongly preferred.
- Up to 1 year of relevant industrial experience in mechanical engineering.
- Knowledge of design standards and codes.
- Knowledge of specifications for piping materials.
- Knowledge of development of piping material and material procurement specifications.
- Knowledge of manual valve sizing and application.
- Knowledge of application of piping supports and restraints.
- Working knowledge of CAD software, either AutoCAD, Microstation or both.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to develop virtual team skills and cross-divisional relationships.
