About the position

The HVAC and plumbing engineer will work on a diverse collection of building configurations, performing all aspects of conventional design engineering, analysis, and studies on new and existing structures. The Mechanical Buildings Design Group provides HVAC and plumbing solutions for Black & Veatch's Global projects, and the Mechanical Engineer level 5 position is responsible for the engineering and design of HVAC and plumbing systems in various types of facilities.
Responsibilities
- Perform all aspects of conventional design engineering, analysis, and studies on new and existing structures.
- Design and construction activities for HVAC and plumbing systems.
- Engage in project delivery methods including Traditional Design-Bid-Build and Alternative Conceptual-Bid-Build.
- Conduct energy audits and efficiency engineering studies, system performance reviews, and energy compliance calculations.
- Review facilities for code compliance and apply sustainable strategies for design and LEED certification.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in engineering from a recognized accredited program.
- Minimum of 8 years related work experience.
- Professional Engineer (PE) License required.
- Ability to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements.
Nice-to-haves
- LEED AP certified professional experienced in obtaining LEED certification for industrial buildings.
- Extensive experience with large-scale water-cooled chillers.
- Intermediate knowledge of engineering design principles and applicable design guides and standards related to HVAC and plumbing system design.
