About the position

The Mechanical Designer position at Actalent involves creating detailed shop drawings for custom commercial kitchen equipment, utilizing solid modeling techniques, and managing large CAD assemblies. The role requires collaboration with project managers and a focus on meeting specific customer and industry requirements through innovative design solutions.

Responsibilities

• Create shop drawings for custom commercial kitchen equipment, including floor plans, elevations, and specifications.
• Design custom stainless steel equipment to meet customer and industry requirements.
• Manage large assemblies consisting of sheet metal, parts, sub-assemblies, hardware, and imported files.
• Establish better modeling skills and provide software training for other Design Engineers.
• Draft complex parts and assemblies with mechanical design and integration skills.
• Manage large CAD assemblies and associated drawings.
• Utilize a PDM Product Management Database effectively.
• Read and interpret blueprints and schematics for various projects.
• Perform solid 3D modeling using Siemens SolidEdge for sheet metal designs.
• Create CAD models based on customer specifications and order sheets.
• Collaborate with project managers to deliver drafts for customer review.
• Simultaneously manage multiple projects while prioritizing deadlines.
• Procure products, create DXF drawings for laser cutting, and draft electrical drawings.
• Troubleshoot and adapt model files from the CAD library to meet customer specifications.
• Apply knowledge of GD&T for manufacturing sheet metal.

Requirements

• Proficiency in solid modeling and CAD software, particularly Siemens SolidEdge.
• Experience in designing custom stainless steel equipment.
• Background in sheet metal design is a plus.
• Ability to manage large CAD assemblies and associated drawings.
• Familiarity with PDM Product Management Database.
• Strong skills in reading and interpreting blueprints and schematics.
• Experience in drafting complex parts and assemblies with mechanical design skills.
• Knowledge of GD&T for manufacturing sheet metal.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with product procurement and creating DXF drawings for laser cutting.
• Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize effectively.
