About the position

The Meat Clerk at Sprouts Farmers Market plays a vital role in providing exceptional customer service while working with protein foods. This position involves hands-on tasks such as receiving, storing, and preparing meats, ensuring safe food handling, and maintaining a clean work environment. The Meat Clerk is expected to assist customers with inquiries and special orders, contributing to a positive shopping experience in a fast-paced retail setting.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-level customer service in the meat department.
• Practice safe food handling procedures and maintain product knowledge.
• Receive, store, and grind meats; unload and transport fresh, cured, and boxed meats and poultry.
• Count and weigh incoming articles and compare results against invoices.
• Examine meats in storage and rotate products to avoid aging.
• Assist customers with questions and special orders while maintaining a customer-focused environment.
• Follow the 'Clean as You Go' and 'Fresh at 4' programs as per department guidelines.

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Basic knowledge of math, weights, and measures.
• Dependable and reliable with a positive attitude.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Good communication skills and ability to work in a team environment.
• Capable of standing for up to 4 hours continuously and a total of 8 hours per shift.
• Ability to lift/carry products weighing between 25 to 90 lbs.
