About the position
The Meat Clerk at Sprouts Farmers Market plays a vital role in providing exceptional customer service while working in the meat department. This position involves handling various meat products, ensuring safe food handling practices, and maintaining a clean and organized work environment. The Meat Clerk is responsible for receiving, storing, and preparing meats, as well as assisting customers with their inquiries and special orders. This role requires a passion for healthy food choices and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced retail environment.
Responsibilities
- Provide high-level customer service in the meat department.
- Practice safe food handling procedures and maintain product knowledge.
- Receive, store, and grind meats; unload and transport meat products from delivery trucks.
- Count and weigh incoming articles and compare results against invoices.
- Examine meats in storage and rotate products to avoid aging.
- Assist customers with questions and special orders, maintaining a positive work environment.
- Follow the 'Clean as You Go' and 'Fresh at 4' programs as per department guidelines.
Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Basic knowledge of math, weights, and measures.
- Dependable and reliable with a positive attitude.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Good communication skills and ability to work in a team environment.
- Capable of standing for up to 4 hours continuously and a total of 8 hours per shift.
- Ability to lift/carry products weighing between 25 to 90 lbs.
