About The Position

We are seeking a friendly, dependable, and customer-focused Meat Department Prep Service Associate to join our family-owned Italian grocery. The Meat Department Prep Associate is responsible for preparing, packaging, labeling, and stocking meat products while maintaining high standards of food safety, cleanliness, and customer service. This role supports the daily operations of the meat department by ensuring products are fresh, organized, and ready for sale.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Ability to work in refrigerated environments for extended periods.
• Ability to safely lift up to 50 pounds regularly.
• Basic understanding of food safety and sanitation practices.
• Reliable attendance and punctuality.
• Ability to work flexible schedules, including weekends and holidays.

Nice To Haves

• Previous grocery store, butcher shop, deli, kitchen, or food prep experience.
• Experience handling raw meat products.
• Familiarity with meat cutting tools and preparation equipment.
• Strong attention to detail and organization skills.
• Excellent customer service and communication abilities.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Team-oriented attitude with a willingness to learn.

Responsibilities

• Prepare meat products for display, packaging, and sale according to company standards.
• Trim, portion, marinate, season, and package meats as directed.
• Maintain clean and sanitized workstations, equipment, tools, and storage areas.
• Rotate inventory using FIFO (first in, first out) methods to ensure freshness.
• Stock display cases and monitor product quality and presentation.
• Label products accurately with pricing, weights, and expiration dates.
• Follow all food safety, sanitation, and health department regulations.
• Assist customers with product questions and provide friendly service.
• Safely operate knives, grinders, slicers, and other department equipment.
• Help receive deliveries and organize inventory in coolers and freezers.
• Support department team members and assist with additional duties as needed.
