About The Position

The purpose of this classification is to provide assistance with the handling, stocking, physical inventory, and delivery of supplies and materials. This series is distinguished from the Purchasing series by its focus on the warehousing, control, and release of equipment, materials, and supplies.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Supplemented by two years of experience in warehouse and inventory management or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
  • Must be able to obtain, and maintain, a valid Georgia Commercial Driver's License (CDL) including appropriate endorsement(s) within 6 months of employment in this position.
  • Must be able to demonstrate proficiency in performance of the essential functions and learn, comprehend, and apply all county or departmental policies, practices, and procedures necessary to function effectively in the position.

Responsibilities

  • Loads, unloads, receives stocks, and stores parts, supplies, and materials.
  • Conducts physical inventory; places decals on items; records identification numbers.
  • Delivers and retrieves supplies and materials and maintains records of deliveries.
  • Operates a County vehicle to deliver supplies and materials to various site locations.
  • Maintains assigned storeroom, warehouse, and loading dock in a clean and orderly manner.
  • Assists with placing orders and completing receiving documentation as required.
  • Responds to customer questions and resolves problems as required.
  • Assists office personnel with answering incoming calls when needed.
  • Performs other related duties as required.
