About the position

The Material Handler at POET is responsible for loading various bio-processing products into trucks and rail cars, ensuring timely delivery and product safety. This role involves operating mechanical equipment, completing grading of grain products, and maintaining a clean work area while adhering to safety protocols. The position requires teamwork and a commitment to fostering a safe and compliant work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Load trucks and rail cars with feed and fuel products using mechanical equipment, meters, and scales.
  • Assist with unloading grain products or biomass from supply trucks.
  • Complete grading of grain products or biomass as trained.
  • Operate large machinery and equipment, potentially requiring DOT certification.
  • Maintain a clean work area and adhere to confined space procedures.
  • Complete HAZMAT paperwork when necessary.
  • Learn and operate all processes associated with the grains operation, including maintenance tasks.
  • Work outdoors and be available for weekend and holiday shifts as needed.
  • Assist with running the bioprocessing facility scale house and learn required software applications.
  • Foster a culture of safe behavior and environmental compliance.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • For Material Handler II: Documented successful performance as a Material Handler I or equivalent work experience required.
  • Experience in operating heavy machinery, skid loaders, or other material-moving equipment preferred.
  • Experience in truck loading and unloading, including rail tank car and tanker truck preferred.
  • DOT certification preferred.
  • Excellent organizational, time management, and communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience and knowledge in the operation of heavy machinery.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite and ability to learn new programs.
