The Material Handler, 2nd Shift position at The Toro Company is responsible for adhering to attendance, quality, and safety guidelines, and conducting oneself in a manner that reflects Toro’s values and policies. This role involves performing assigned tasks with accuracy and efficiency, assisting fellow employees to ensure workflow continuity, and operating a powered industrial vehicle (PIV). The position requires completing training and certification for operating PIVs at elevated heights and complying with fall protection safety requirements. Familiarity with Toro inventory management systems and processes is expected. The role involves retrieving materials, verifying part numbers, descriptions, and quantities, accurately counting, picking, repacking, and labeling materials according to PFEP standards. It also includes using scales, bar code readers, printing tickets, applying labels, and performing material movements in SAP to ensure system accuracy. Physically transporting material and bins to production lines or staging areas using PIVs and other material handling equipment is a key responsibility, as is moving freight between trailers, loading docks, storage locations, and production areas. Communicating shortages, discrepancies, or process issues promptly and maintaining an organized work area consistent with 5S and EHS standards are also crucial. The role requires active participation in Kaizen, ISO, and continuous improvement initiatives to support operational excellence and lean manufacturing goals, as well as supporting process improvements to enhance safety, quality, and efficiency.
