About the position
The Material Handler position at RJW Logistics involves operating forklifts to manage freight in a warehouse setting. The role focuses on ensuring safe and efficient loading and unloading of shipments, maintaining an orderly warehouse environment, and adhering to safety protocols. The position requires flexibility in working hours and the ability to handle various weights of stock while following operational procedures.
Responsibilities
- Operate forklifts safely and efficiently to handle all freight inbound or outbound.
- Maintain warehouse area with orderly stacking and good housekeeping.
- Load and unload RJW trucks and trailers safely using proper procedures.
- Stage, check, and load shipments correctly.
- Store stock properly in the warehouse and move products into storage racks.
- Process outbound cross-dock freight as necessary.
- Record and verify the accuracy of shipments against paperwork for incoming and outgoing deliveries.
- Complete daily forklift maintenance inspections and ensure compliance with safety policies.
- Report any issues with deliveries or damages to the Warehouse Supervisor.
- Maintain access to dock doors and keep them free of debris or snow.
Requirements
- 3-6 months of forklift driving experience in a warehouse using sit down forklifts and Electric Pallet Jacks.
- High School Diploma or general education diploma (GED).
- General understanding of computers and handheld RF equipment.
- Ability to read, write, and understand English.
Nice-to-haves
- Warehousing certifications are a plus.
- Experience in building pallets with stock and breaking down stock to fill independent orders.
- Experience in cross docking freight process.
