About the position

The function of the Material Coordinator is responsible for the management and monitoring of material inventories. They will ensure that inventory movements and counts are performed accurately. This position involves various responsibilities including inventory management, operational inventory accuracy, warehouse optimization, and materials duties. The Material Coordinator will assist in maintaining aspects of storage costs, ensure warehouse operations are streamlined, and coordinate kitting procedures for assembly lines. They will also support with monthly inventory adjustment meetings and assist in the development and implementation of goals consistent with company objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Use of best internal customer service.
  • Assisting in maintaining aspects of storage costs (space, personnel, and equipment).
  • Maintaining material flow processes throughout the warehouse.
  • Aiding in counting and maintaining inventory accuracy continually throughout the year.
  • Assisting in cycle counts of selected items.
  • Ensuring that all items are counted a predetermined number of times a year, depending on their importance.
  • Ability to detect and determine inventory inaccuracies.
  • Coordination of movement of material throughout the facility to ensure there is little or no loss of production.
  • Ensuring warehouse operations are streamlined within plantwide production.
  • Execution of predetermined organization by value stream, flow-oriented layouts, locations by consumption, storage areas and packaging quantity optimization.
  • Ensure housekeeping is upkept in storage locations.
  • Responsible for prevention and loss or damage of plant inventory and company properties.
  • Assist in leading and mentoring both hourly and salary employees on adherence to the Mixed Model Flow.
  • Coordination of kitting procedures for assembly lines.
  • Ensure that parts are presented to assembly lines at the right time.
  • Assist in answering corrective action for the Material Flow department.
  • Exercise independent judgement.
  • Interpret union contract on a frequent basis.
  • Support with the monthly inventory adjustment meetings.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of goals and plans of action consistent with company objectives.

Requirements

  • Ability to communicate information, both verbally and written, so that others will understand.
  • Ability to understand the written and verbal ideas and information of others.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to relate to others in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Ability to read blue prints.
  • Requires a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Requires one to three years of scheduling experience or equivalent experience in a manufacturing setting.
